Giving Tree of Life
Foundation
Join The Giving Tree of Life Foundation with a donation to provide support and comfort during a Woman’s Journey Through Breast Cancer with a thoughtful Giving Tree of Life Foundation Gift Bag.
Our Mission
The Giving Tree of Life Foundation mission is to bring comfort and hope to women undergoing breast cancer chemotherapy treatments. Starting with thoughtful holiday gift bags and a growing vision to share options for holistic support.
The Giving Tree of Life Foundation hope is to brighten the lives of women facing a fight for their life by making a difference—one gesture at a time.
Why We Care
Breast cancer is much more than just a diagnosis; it becomes a journey filled with challenges, resilience, and hope.
John’s caregiving experience supporting his late wife Michelle during her fight with breast cancer he learned that the right things can make a big difference during this time.
That’s why The Giving Tree of Life Foundation gift bags are more than just thoughtful gestures—they are symbols of strength, love, and a caring community.
Growing Our Vision
As The Giving Tree of Life Foundation looks ahead, our vision is to expand beyond holiday cheer.
We plan to grow this website into a comprehensive hub for cancer resources.
By offering links to global treatment options and local services to support individuals during their cancer journey we can share the many things that helped Michele add years to her original diagnosis.
Holistic Opportunities
As The Giving Tree of Life Foundation funding grows, we dream of providing free and discounted holistic therapies, such as Nutritional Therapy, Lymphatic Massage, Breath Coaching, and other supporting options like Music Therapy.
The options to be offered will be included to help lessen and at times alleviate the side effects of treatment and help patients rebuild balance, strength, and hope.
Care Giving Comfort.
The Giving Tree of Life Foundation Story
John's Story about Growing and Sharing Hope
On March 17, 2010, my wife, Michele, was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer, beginning our life-changing journey. This time was marked by extensive research, chemotherapy, many hospital stays. With an aggressive treatment plan we managed with two oncologists in different states.
As Michele’s primary caregiver I coordinated this journey every step of the way.
To say this experience was emotionally and physically exhausting, is vastly understated. On September 3, 2014, my life’s love Michele passed away.
During my grieving of her passing, a vision of sharing began to take shape—a way to honor her memory and bring some light to other women facing similar battles with breast cancer.
During Michele’s years in treatment, we spent nearly every Christmas at Women and Infants Hospital undergoing chemotherapy.
That Christmas after her passing I remembered there were 20 women undergoing chemo therapy during the Christmas season.
As soon as I recalled this I felt compelled to act and I purchased gift bags, handed them out, and shared my story with the 20 women undergoing treatment that Christmas. As I shared Michele and my story, in return, these brave women shared theirs.
That small gesture with a gift bag brought smiles and a glimmer of hope during a week that almost anyone would find overwhelming.
For the next five years, I continued the Christmas gift bag tradition. Initially funding it on my own I finally reached out for support and contributions, the response was amazing.
With such an amazing response in 2022, the Giving Tree of Life Foundation was created—a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. 100% of all donations go directly to creating the gift bags to share with women undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer at the Women and Infants Hospital for Breast Cancer where Michele received her chemotherapy.
Through your generosity, we will continue to bring moments of joy, connection, and hope to those in the fight of their lives against breast cancer.
Together, we will make a difference.
